This public Gentoo Linux overlay provides live ebuilds enabling you to build KDE 3.x from the KDE subversion repository on Gentoo Linux. Monolithic ebuilds for KDE4 (both live and from published tarballs) are provided as well. Split and meta ebuilds are work in progress.

KDE 3 Live SVN Ebuilds are now unsupported

Dear users of the the KDE 3 live svn ebuilds!

With KDE4's beta 3 almost here and in the "kde" overlay, the promotion of the last active overlay developer tgurr to full Gentoo developership and the vastly superior ebuilds for KDE 3.5.7 (with some fixes from svn), I hereby announce the end of support for the KDE3 live svn ebuilds in the "kde-experimental" overlay. Especially since none of us use them anymore ourselves. :)

Progress!

We haven't updated this site for quite some time now - mostly, because we were busy with the KDE4 ebuilds.

We currently have working monolithic ebuilds for KDE4 Alpha1 (cf. http://genkdesvn.sourceforge.net/node/18 on getting and using them). Furthermore, we're working on providing split and live ebuilds for KDE4. Those are not yet available via layman but you can get them directly from the repository (cf. http://sourceforge.net/svn/?group_id=186399 to learn how to get them).

Goodbye Rsync, welcome layman/subversion

We've switched from Rsync to layman and subversion as primary means to update the ebuilds. Please do use layman. While we will keep the rsync method available for now, support for it might be dropped in the future.

New site!

As you can see, we've switched from our former site on Berlios to here on Sourceforge.Net. We're now using Drupal as our CMS and, as before, Mantis for bug tracking.

We've migrated all Mantis accounts to the new installation but for now we have not yet managed to implement a single-sign-on for Drupal and Mantis so you'll have to register at both for the time being. We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause.

Once this site is fully operative, we won't support rsync syncronisation any longer but fully rely on the proven layman/subversion combination.
